Scrap sellers come to our Dallas store from across the metro — Oak Cliff, East Dallas, Pleasant Grove, Las Colinas in Irving, downtown Garland, and the Plano and Richardson lines. Many are clearing out a parent's house or finally cashing in years of broken pieces from a jewelry box. We make it a five-minute, written-math transaction, not a back-room negotiation.
Almost any gold-containing item that isn't worth more as a finished piece is scrap. That includes broken chains and bracelets, single earrings, bent rings, dented bands, snapped clasps, mangled charms, gold-filled (only when stamped — see below), gold solder and findings, jeweler's bench sweep, and even old gold dental crowns or bridges with the porcelain still attached. We accept all karats — 8K, 9K, 10K, 14K, 18K, 21K, 22K, 24K — plus common European stamps (375, 585, 750, 916, 999). Items marked GP, GE, GF, HGE, RGP, or 1/20 12K are gold-plated or gold-filled and are evaluated separately because their gold content is much lower.
Pure math, in plain view: per-karat factor × gram weight × today's gold spot × our payout percentage. For example, 10K is roughly 41.7% pure gold, 14K is 58.5%, 18K is 75%. We separate your lot by karat, weigh each pile on a calibrated scale, and confirm purity with acid and electronic testing. Plated, filled, or unmarked items are tested individually so you don't get underpaid on a stamped piece because something next to it wasn't real.
Mixed lots are not lumped at the lowest karat — every group gets its own line.
